Description

This adjustable ring is constructed by oxidised sterling silver 925. You can choose between amethyst, labradorite and garnet round shaped gemstones with diameter 6mm.
Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz. The name comes from the Greek αμέθυστος amethystos from α-, “not” and μεθύσκω, “intoxicate”, a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness. The ancient Greeks wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. High quality amethyst can be found in Siberia, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Uruguay, and the Far East.
There are few gemstones that display the ‘play-of-color’ phenomenon better than Labradorite, reds, blues, purples, yellows and more dance before your eyes as it turns in your hand but there is much more to discover about this rare beauty. The Schiller effect, labradorescence, light interference, lattice distortions are some of the scientific explanations for flashes of color in Labradorite gemstones which we can go into later but perhaps the Inuit people of Labrador in Canada explain it best by saying that the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis were trapped within Labradorite rocks.
The distinctive title Garnet is derived from the Latin name Granatum, a pomegranate. Garnets were used in the former Czechoslovakia as far back as the Bronze Age, and in Egypt more than five thousand years ago. They were also popular in ancient Greek and Roman civilizations.
Every ring may vary a bit, since it is handmade and gemstones are natural and genuine.
